SEATTLE, October 29, 2014 – For their last season sailing under the Seabourn banner, Seabourn Spirit and Seabourn Legend will return to the Caribbean where they first started more than 20 years ago. The voyages will incorporate signature Seabourn events such as the line’s popular and iconic “Caviar in the Surf” beach barbecue and the watersports Marina Day that helped pave the way for luxury small-ship cruising. They will be transferred to their new owners in Europe in the spring of 2015.
“Seabourn Spirit and Seabourn Legend have delivered countless unforgettable memories and special ‘Seabourn Moments’ over the years,” said Seabourn President Richard Meadows. “We invite our guests to celebrate these fine ships and come back one more time to where it all began in the Caribbean.”
Sister ships Seabourn Spirit and Seabourn Legend will cruise the azure waters of Seabourn’s “Uncommon Caribbean” at the end of 2014 and early 2015. Beginning Nov. 15, 2014, Seabourn Spirit will offer 18 seven-day cruises alternating between St. Maarten and Barbados. The ship will depart on its final voyage under the Seabourn banner on March 21, 2015, for a 13-day transatlantic voyage from St. Maarten to Barcelona. On Nov. 9, 2014, Seabourn Legend will begin a series of alternating seven-day voyages between St. Maarten and Aruba and end its Caribbean season with three seven-day cruises roundtrip from St. Thomas.
Both ships will visit a bevy of chic towns and popular islands, including St. Kitts, Antigua, and St. Barts, as well as call at smaller ports and island yacht harbors such as Mayreau in the Grenadines’ Tobago Cays; Le Marin on Martinique and Îles des Saintes on Guadeloupe.
The ships will offer the line’s signature “Caviar in the Surf” beach barbecue, where uniformed staff members plunge into the water and invite guests to wade in and receive iced champagne and caviar at a surfboard bar. The event includes a lavish barbecue lunch, watersports, music and ample time to soak up the sun on a white-sandy beach. This option is scheduled to be available at Prickly Pear Island in the British Virgin Islands and Mayreau in St. Vincent & Grenadines.
Another highlight of Seabourn’s Caribbean cruises is the line’s popular Marina Days, featuring complimentary watersports from the ships’ unique fold-out watersports platform. From swimming and pedal-boating to kayaking and banana boat rides, guests can enjoy the beautiful, warm waters of the Caribbean during this fun-filled activity.
Seabourn’s intimate, award-winning ships offer key elements that set Seabourn apart: spacious, thoughtfully appointed suites; superb dining in a choice of venues; open bars throughout the ship; fine wines poured at lunch and dinner; award-winning personalized service and a relaxed, sociable atmosphere that makes guests feel right at home on board. Onboard entertainment options are varied with the line’s popular Seabourn Conversations enrichment series, and along with beautiful, understated elegance in design and thoughtful, quality furnishings, the Seabourn ships provide one of the world’s finest vacation options and represent an exceptional value to travelers.
