GRANADA BAR AND GRILL BURSTS WITH FRESH FLAVOR ATOP SCOTTSDALE’S NEWEST RESORT

Chef John du Toit Creates Modern Urban-American Restaurant

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – (July 11, 2016) – With views of the Scottsdale skyline, the Chaparral Suites soon to be Embassy Suites by Hilton Scottsdale Resort, managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts, announces the opening of the resort’s completely transformed restaurant, the Granada Bar and Grill. Located on the top floor of the resort, guests can enjoy the graciously remodeled dining room or cheer on a game in the casual lounge area. Executive Chef John du Toit, originally from Patagonia, Arizona, created the restaurant’s menu blending culinary practices from his global travels and heritage to create a modern urban-American menu that is uniquely local, surprising and satisfying.

“I love traditional dishes with a modern, American twist,” said Chef du Toit. “I always look for ways to incorporate my love for fresh and local ingredients into classic dishes.”

Diners can begin their experience at the Granada Bar and Grill with a wide selection of hand-crafted cocktails including the following refreshing summer cocktails:

  • Topaz Creation – includes Sauza Hornitos Reposado Tequila, Pampelmousse Liqueur, Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur, and fresh lime juice
  • Raspberry Mojito – features Silver Rum, raspberry simple syrup and fresh lime juice
  • Sparkling Italian – features Lillet Blanc, Strega, and fresh orange and lemon juices
  • Farmers Elixir – features Skyy Mango Vodka, Aperol and fresh juices

The beef tenderloin bruschetta; charcuterie slat starter featuring Arizona honey comb, copper aged cheddar, white figs, and balsamic caviar; and the lamb lolli pops with smoked white bean puree and a tarragon crisp are just a few of Chef du Toit’s modern takes on classic starters.

Main courses include Niman Ranch’s bone-in pork loin and braised beef short ribs; roasted vegetable flowerless tart with tomato foam; and grilled duck steak with prosciutto wrapped asparagus, fig and burnt scallion mango chutney.

The restaurant and menu redesign were major components of the hotel’s recent $25 million renovation. Open from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., with the bar open until midnight, diners can order items from the full menu daily. Guests can also reserve part of the Granada Bar and Grill for semi-private events for groups of up to 36 people. Larger parties can be easily accommodated by utilizing the more than 60,000 sq. feet of meeting and event space, including an 11,000-sq.-foot conference center, and event and meeting planners can work directly with Chef du Toit to create a custom menu. In addition to his savory appetizers and main dishes, Chef du Toit is also well known for his dessert creations ranging from grand cakes to individual, cutting-edge pastries and chocolates.
