CHARLOTTESVILLE NAMED “BEST MEDIUM TOWN”

BY BLUE RIDGE COUNTRY MAGAZINE’S READERS

The destination also received third place as “Best College Town”

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (July 1, 2013) – The 325,000 readers of Blue Ridge Country Magazine chose

Charlottesville as a multiple award winner.  Our destination received the top honor of the Platinum Award

in the “Best Medium Town” category.  Charlottesville also came in third place, with a Silver Award in the

“Best College Town” category.

This year, the Best of the Mountains poll featured a variety of reader selections, ranging from best

waterfall to best southern cooking.  Other Charlottesville and Albemarle County organizations were

named favorites by the readers:  Monticello received the gold award for “Best Historic Attraction”, and the

Crozet Arts & Crafts Festival was runner-up in the “Best Arts/Crafts Show” category.

The 2013 Best of the Mountains award winners can be found in the July/August 25th edition of Blue Ridge

Country Magazine, an award-winning bi-monthly regional magazine that covers the mountain regions of

nine southern states.

Charlottesville Mayor Satyendra Huja raves: “Charlottesville is a great place to live and visit, because of

its diversity and beauty. Charlottesville also has a proud history with three American presidents,

Jefferson, Madison and Monroe. Charlottesville is home of the University of Virginia, a top university in

the United States.”

“Charlottesville is a destination that has it all… Charm, beauty, history, amazing food & wine, mountain

views.  We are honored to have been chosen by the readers of Blue Ridge Mountain Magazine, and

recognized for these great assets,” says Kurt Burkhart, Executive Director of the Charlottesville Albemarle

Convention & Visitors Bureau.  “We hope that readers will take this opportunity to explore Charlottesville

and Albemarle County during their summer vacation, and get re-acquainted with all our area has to offer.”
