Deepavali, the Festival of Lights
Also known as the Festival of Lights, the Hindu celebration of Deepavali marks the triumph of good over evil. Hindus celebrate by adorning their homes with oil lamps, taking a ritual morning bath and offering ceremonial prayers in temples.

Malaysia welcomes foreign retirees 

Malaysia is listed as one of three countries that welcomes foreign retirees byU.S. News & World Report. The Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) program makes it easy for foreigners to retire in Malaysia full-time.

“Perhaps the biggest benefit of MM2H status is the tax status it gives you. As an MM2H resident in Malaysia, all your foreign-source income, including pension, interest, and dividend income, as well as foreign-earned income, is exempt from Malaysian taxes,” the article stated.

Malaysia ranked as one of the most competitive economies for doing business 

Malaysia is the 12th most competitive economy in the world for doing business, according to a report by the World Bank. It is ahead of Sweden (13th), Taiwan (16th), Germany (20th), and Japan (24th).

Additionally, Malaysia ranks fourth in the world in the category of ‘protecting investors,’ and first, together with South Africa and the United Kingdom, in the category of “ease of getting credit.”

Reuters plans a 48-hour trip to Penang

Reuters correspondents help visitors experience some of the best that Penang has to offer, in an article titled “48 hours in Malaysia’s historic, food-loving Penang.” The article lists boutique hotels, art galleries, food dishes, and more.

 

“Just off Malaysia’s west coast on the Straits of Melaka, Penang island is a key Southeast Asian crossroad that historically brought together traders, armies from across the world and created a huge repository of culinary delights,” the article stated.

International Olympic Committee to convene in Malaysia    

 

Malaysia recently won the bid to host the127th International Olympic Committee Session, which is expected to bring roughly 1,500 international delegates to Kuala Lumpur in 2015. This event will decide the host city of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

Malaysia opens first alpine sport and rock climbing courses

Mountain Torq Sdn Bhd recently launched three levels of alpine sport climbing courses, including beginner, advanced and sport climbing-lead climbing. The introduction of alpine sports climbing makes Mount Kinabalu an alpine playground offering hikers and mountaineers the ability to experience a range of activities like hiking, via ferrata climbing, sport climbing, rock climbing and alpine rock climbing.
