High-Tech Racing Yachts To Set Sail from

Chicago’s Lake Michigan Shore in Spring 2015

Next Level Sailing Chicago offers an experience of a lifetime for guests to race

state-of-the-art America’s Cup sailing yachts starting in May.

CHICAGO, IL – Visitors and residents of the windy city can test out their sea legs and competitive spirit in a state-of-the-art sailing yacht race as Next Level Sailing Chicago brings their fleet to the Lake Michigan shore in Chicago.  Famous Americas Cup yachts “Stars and Stripes” and “Abracadabra” will make their maiden voyage in Lake Michigan in May 2015.

Companies or individuals seeking a memorable, exhilarating experience can rent out each of the 80-foot, high-tech yachts.  Up to 20 guests per yacht can enjoy the nautical racing lifestyle, perfect for a corporate outing, team building activity, or individual event.  Next Level Sailing Chicago provides a truly one-of-a-kind experience – it is currently the only place in the USA where guests can be involved in hands-on racing on the latest generation of America’s Cup yachts.

Next Level Sailing Chicago Managing Partners Paul D. Schulz and Ryan Weber are anxiously awaiting this opportunity to reach out to the Chicago market and to provide this chance for Midwesterners to come aboard the yachts, which are currently en route to Chicago from San Diego.

“This is an experience like no other in Chicago or even the United States,” Schulz said.  “Both of these yachts raced in an America’s Cup event in the past, and now guests can experience the same exhilaration and thrill in their own backyard.”

Nautical sports have never been more popular on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan. Chicago was recently named host of an America’s Cup World Series event in Summer 2016 and was also a finalist for a 2017 America’s Cup event.  Steady, light winds and warm summer temperatures make ideal conditions for a trip with Next Level Sailing.

With a length of 80-feet, each ship weighs in at a whopping 50,000-lbs. with a 114-foot mast towering over 11 stories above boaters below.  Both the ‘”Stars and Stripes” and “Abracadabra” give up to 20 guests and up to 4 crew the experience in either an adrenaline-pumping racing environment against friends or colleagues or, for those seeking relaxation, a private rental around Lake Michigan.

“Some of our guests may seek ‘bragging rights’ at a corporate event sailing against their co-workers, while others may simply enjoy the state-of-the-art ride around beautiful Lake Michigan,” Weber added.  “No matter what the goal, we strive to give them an amazing experience with 100% satisfaction.”

Guests can be involved in the actual race to the extent they are comfortable, and no previous experience or special skills are required.  A 3-hour private charter for each yacht and up to 20 guests comes with a maximum rate of $3,150, plus consideration for a gratuity for the four crew members, and a $4 per person docking fee.  Soft beverages are available on board, and guests can choose to bring their own drinks, lunches, or snacks, making for a memorable lunch outing, family reunion, or wine and cheese event.  If guests wish, arrangements can be made for both yachts to be rented out simultaneously so the racing rivalry can really heat up or to accommodate a larger group.
