Travel Channel Bizarre Foods Host Andrew Zimmern Teams Up with SCOTTeVEST for the Ultimate Travel Gear
One year in the making, this collaboration lends Andrew’s expert seal of approval to SeV’s new flagship travel vest
KETCHUM, ID (July 22, 2014) – What has 26 pockets, two James Beard Awards, protects passports from RFID skimmers and has been to almost literally every country on Earth? The new collaboration between TV’s most adventurous chef Andrew Zimmern, and SCOTTeVEST!
SCOTTeVEST (SeV) has been creating tech-enabled clothing full of hidden pockets since 2000, and set out a year ago to develop the ultimate addition to their lineup of travel-friendly vests. With Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) tags being integrated into cell phones, credit cards and passports, RFID security is a growing concern for which SeV invented a unique solution: RFID-blocking pockets. Built upon 14 years of pocket innovation, SeV’s new flagship product – the SCOTTeVEST RFID Travel Vest – is engineered to protect the traveler’s most sensitive information.
Just as development was beginning on this landmark product, SCOTTeVEST CEO Scott Jordan and Andrew Zimmern met at the Washington D.C. Travel and Adventure Show and connected the way only fellow world travelers do. (They also ate jellyfish, but that’s another story.) It was a foregone conclusion that something epic would result from their meeting, and about one year later, it has. Introducing the special edition Zimmern Road Ready Vests.
Andrew Zimmern says, “I have been an SeV customer for years and these vests are the best travel tool in my go-bag. These vests are flawlessly engineered, stand up to travel abuse and most of all are super cool and fun. I feel like a secret agent on the go every day that I put it on.”
SeV’s standard Travel Vest was already a personal favorite of Andrew’s during development of the RFID-blocking version. The special edition Zimmern Road Ready Vests carry Andrew’s beautifully embroidered Road Ready seal of approval, and are now available for men (26 pockets) and women (18 pockets) in a versatile khaki color.
“We created the RFID Travel Vest,” said SCOTTeVEST CEO Scott Jordan, “because RFID security is a growing concern to travelers. SeV already protects people against being physically pickpocketed, and now it protects against digital pickpockets, too. We are such fans of Andrew’s work and travel philosophy that collaborating was a perfect fit. We are incredibly proud to be able to work with him to share this new product with the world.”
With 18-26 pockets, SCOTTeVEST products should come with a map of features… and they do. This is the pocket map from the special edition Zimmern Road Ready Vest:
In addition to the RFID blocking pocket and two dozen other tech-friendly pockets (some patented), SeV has incorporated its most evolved features into these new vests, earning it a major thumbs-up from Andrew Zimmern:
-
Designed for Wearables – travelers love gadgets, and wearable gadgets like Google Glass are becoming available all over the world. The biggest problem? Battery life. SeV solves the issue by making it easy to recharge devices in one pocket with a battery pack in another pocket through the patented Personal Area Network (PAN) connecting them invisibly in the vest’s lining.
-
Two-Way Ergonomic Zippers – when a product has 18-26 pockets, the quality and efficiency of zipper is key, and that’s why SCOTTeVEST invests in quality construction. The RFID Vest zipper pulls have been updated for performance and ergonomic grip, and the main zipper is now configured as a “two-way” zipper that can be opened from the top or the bottom. Some interior pockets now feature locking zippers.
“This is clothing for the 21st century traveler,” explains Scott Jordan.
