In October 2013, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, will open the first exhibition of paintings by Lucian Freud, the grandson of the Austrian psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, ever to have been presented in Austria.Special Opening Hours for Lucian Freud
On Thursdays and Fridays the exhibition „Lucian Freud“ and the picture gallery will be open until 10 pm.Café & Restaurant Special

THE TSAR’S JEWELLER

The exhibition entitled “Fabergé” in the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna offers unique insight into the fascinating world of Russian jewellery art. Ca. 150 pieces of jewellery from the Kremlin Museum in Moscow can be seen for the first time in Austria.The Kremlin Museum in Moscow holds one of the most important collections of decorative art from the late 19th to the early 20th century in Russia.  At this time outstanding and artistically extremely accomplished jewellers established major workshops in the larger Russian cities.Read more…

DIEGO VELÁZQUEZ

In 2014 the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna will show the first individual exhibition in honour of this famous artist in the service of the “Casa de Austria”. The focus of the exhibition is to provide a comprehensive display of this artist’s versatile and artistically ever constant and extraordinary creative power, and to present, along with the portraits, also examples of his mythological and religious works as well as still life, landscape and animals studies.Outstanding items on loan from the National Gallery London and the Museo del Prado allow for a differentiated view of the uniquely artistic works of Diego Velásquez.  He himself was involved in the study of the paintings in the royal picture gallery in Madrid, and he also studied the works of other artists on his trips to Italy.Read more…
