The North America Office of Duesseldorf Tourism and Duesseldorf Airport announces:

New Exhibit: “Photo A-Z” – Highlights of 15 Years of Exhibits and Other Never-before-seen Photos at NRW-Forum

“Photographers we have featured and those we’ve always wanted to” is how the NRW Forum sums up its new exhibit. The list of artists is a who’s-who of the most influential photographers in avant-garde, fashion, advertising and media.

Düsseldorf, Germany – A fantastic summary of 15 years of big-name photography shows plus never before shown pieces make up the new exhibit at Düsseldorf’s NRW-Forum, titled “Photo A-Z,”September 28, 2013 – January 5, 2014.    The museum has hosted many major photo exhibits over the past decade and a half — including Peter Lindbergh, Herb Ritts, Helmut Newton, Robert Mapplethorpe, Guy Bourdin, Rankin and, most recently, Canadian singer-turned-photographer Bryan Adams. Highlights from these shows are complemented by iconic pieces by other top artists from various genres, such as Cindy Sherman, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Inez van Lamsweerde, Richard Prince, Peter Fischli and David Weiss – plus some masters still influential today, such as Paul Outerbridge and Charles Jones.

Some of the pieces have rarely or never before shown in Germany, such as Nick Knight’s flower pictures or Joel Sternfeld’s iPhone images from Dubai.  The selection of pieces is a thorough cross section of the state-of-the-art in photography before and after the turn of the millennium.  Other artists in the show include Nobuyoshi Araki, William Eggleston, Nan Goldin, Candida Höfer, Wolfgang Tillmans, David LaChapelle, Thomas Ruff, and Jeff Wall.

An installation of more than 100 magazines will illustrate the spread of photography through print media and the influence of fashion and life style magazines.
