The Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium is pleased to announce this year’s recipients of its annual conservation awards. The Cheetah Conservation Fund, The Marine Mammal Center, Zambian Carnivore Programme and Niassa Lion Project are all first time recipients along with six other recipients. Over the past two decades, Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium has contributed tens of thousands of dollars, as well as, thousands more as in-kind support and staff expertise to dozens of local, national and international organizations. These financial awards of $1000 each were created to recognize worthy efforts in field conservation, public display & education, and basic research designed to preserve our planet and inspire future generations to care about wildlife and wild places.Landfill Harmonic is an upcoming documentary that tells the inspiring story of the Recycled Orchestra, a children’s orchestra in Paraguay that plays musical instruments made from trash. Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) is excited to announce that a Recycled Orchestra exhibit is now on display. MIM has been working with the Landfill Harmonic documentary team for more than a year and is showcasing eight innovative instruments made from garbage such as oil cans, tin pipes and even x-ray films. The club also offers opportunities to play in indoor facilities generously provided by the players for lessons, clinics, and tournaments to accommodate any player’s needs. The outdoor and indoor season is played from November through April. |

Downtown Phoenix welcomes Pomo Pizzeria Napoletana founded by the Italian trio of Executive Chef Matteo Schiavone, and co-owners, Stefano Fabbri and Mark Proto. Executive Chef Matteo Schiavone maintains quality cuisine by importing all of the food products directly from Italy. Furthermore, Chef Schiavone brings his prestigious Awarded Pizza Certifications from the “Verace Pizza Napoletana” and the “Associazione Pizzaiuoli Napoletani,”as well as a larger, bespoke oven created by “Mario Acunto”, a third generation Napoletana oven maker. Executive Chef Matteo Schiavone personally guided the creation of this new 6’ 2” wide and 6,500-pound oven during a recent trip to Napoli, and had it shipped all the way to ‘Pomo’s new downtown Phoenix location.Michael O’Dowd, the local celeb chef who ran the state’s most-awarded kitchen at Kai for 10 years and most recently remade the menu at District American Kitchen has found a home he can call his very own. Teaming up with co-owner and entertainment industry veteran Ed LeClere, O’Dowd has recently taken over Renegade Tap & Kitchen and has plans to upgrade the new home to fit the feel of his soon-to-be-revealed “MOD” menu. Guests can look forward to high-energy colors, locally sourced products and a new stage where live entertainment will keep the vivid street vibe going throughout the week.Greater Phoenix offers a brand new patio restaurant dining experience, Tempe’s Front Porch, is open for business and offers breathtaking views of Tempe Town Lake and the Mill Avenue Bridge. Located at Mill Avenue and Rio Salado, TFP features a traditional lunch menu, a tapas style dinner menu of Modern Latin Cuisine by Executive Chef Jimmy Hernandez, and 13 specialty craft beers revolving on the tap. Royal Palms Resort and Spa, Phoenix’s historic luxury boutique resort, announces the upcoming revitalization of longtime renowned restaurant T. Cook’s. The evolution entails an interior redesign of the restaurant and bar, in addition to the highly anticipated hire of Paul McCabe as Executive Chef. Chef McCabe joined the team on Monday, May 13, 2013 prior to the restaurant’s upcoming three-month revitalization debuting early September 2013.
