Glenwood Springs
, Colo. (January 23, 2013) – Anyone who frequents farmers’ markets knows the best ingredients are those that are mindfully grown, are usually organic and are picked at their peak. The same is true for ingredients used in spa treatments. Spa of the Rockies has teamed up with Zents, a Boulder, Colorado, company, to offer spa services that incorporate the farm-to-treatment-table concept in nearly every treatment available at the award-winning Glenwood Springs spa, including massage, facials and even nail services. When guests check in at the Spa of the Rockies, they’re greeted by a spa concierge who directs them to a nearby table featuring a variety of Zents products, including six vials, each filled with lightly-colored liquid. Vials are labeled and guests are encouraged to sample and jot down their preferences for use in their treatment. Best of all, the Zents scent journey is a complimentary add-on to nearly every Spa of the Rockies treatment. Visitors staying overnight at the Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge are also treated to the Zents experience with complimentary Zents products including soap, body wash, lotion, shampoo and conditioner stocked in every guest room.Zents founder Cord Coen is a familiar face at the Spa of the Rockies where he makes regular stops to educate the therapists and staff about the company’s products and philosophy. “It was inevitable that Spa of the Rockies would team up with Zents. The missions of both companies are so deeply in sync. Our mission at Spa of the Rockies is to help our guests feel better; Zents’ mission is all about healing. Naturally, we gravitated toward one another,” said Karla Hallock, assistant manager for Spa of Rockies.

Spa of the Rockies offers a comprehensive menu of spa services, most of which can integrate Zents’ farm-to-treatment-table aromatherapy, including massage, body treatments, facials, manicures and pedicures. Popular choices for massage include Lymphatic Drainage, High Altitude Adjustment, and Rockies River Warm Stone massage, as well as deep tissue and classic Swedish massage. For facials, Zents treatments are applied to either the décolleté or arms; for nail services, the oils are massaged into the hands or feet.

Spa guests may choose scents based on their pleasing aromas or their healing qualities. The scent Earth has strong sandalwood notes and is advised for strengthening and grounding; Fresh is rooted in linden blossom and good for soothing and cleansing; Mandarin is warming and invigorating with ginger as a primary ingredient; Oolong for balancing and energizing has light qualities as found in lime and green tea; Sun is comforting and soothing with overarching scents of vanilla and blood orange; and Ore is considered euphoric and stimulating, heavy on clove, bay laurel and orris.

While ingredients for Zents products come from farms and locales around the world, they always support local communities, are sustainably harvested and employ time-tested techniques. For example, a group of women in Africa sustainably harvest by hand the organic shea butter used in Zents products; in a community in India families hand carve the stones used for the Zents Concreta product packaging that, when depleted, can later be repurposed; and in the English countryside a small soap maker uses a centuries old technique to triple mill each bar of soap, which is then individually wrapped at Zents in Boulder. Closer to home the company nurtures a comfrey crop, a healing herb known for its anti-inflammatory properties, using biodynamic practices on their organic farm. As a result farm-to-treatment-table spa services use only the highest quality ingredients; no parabens, phthalates, sodium laurel sulfate, petroleum, propylene glycol or dyes are ever used.
