the “Big Week”

August 28 – September 6, 2015Join us for the “Big Week,” which is the Flagship of the German Gallop-Racing – sometimes called the week of the “Royal Ascot of Germany.” It is a time of fun, excitement, glamour and nail-biting suspense. Besides watching the best jockeys and horses of the season in action, you will also see the high society beauties in their spectacular dresses and crazy hats. The highlight is the race for the Longines Grand Prix, which is always scheduled on the first Sunday in September.

Kurpark Meeting
August 28 – September 6, 2015

The Kurpark Event is Germany’s most beautiful and festive party, which simultaneously commences with the “Big Week” and continues with a 10-day open-air party. The Kurhaus and the world-famous Casino Baden-Baden will be the magnificently illuminated backdrop of daily live music. Culinary delights will be offered, from local specialties to Mediterranean cuisine and exotic creations.

What would the International Horse Races – the social event of the year – be without the Grand Prix Ball on the last weekend of the “Big Week”? It is a dazzling event with a long tradition of the annual honoring of the “Galopper of the Year.”

This spectacular ball in the elegant Kurhaus Baden-Baden, attended by international personalities from the world of business, politics, media and society, should not be missed. Well-known bands, singers and performers provide entertainment at its best. The event of the year will end with spectacular fireworks.

SWR3 New Pop Festival
SWR is Germany’s second largest broadcasting organization
September 10-12, 2015

From September 10-12, Baden-Baden will once again be the “SWR3 Pop City.” As part of the trend of pop, these very talented artists perform at the most beautiful venues Baden-Baden has to offer. The glamorous Bènazet Hall at the Kurhaus, the impressive main auditorium of the theatre, and the Festspielhaus, Europe’s second largest opera and concert hall.

Cultural Highlights of
Baden-Baden Museums

The major summer presentation at the Museum Frieder Burdafrom now to September 20 focuses on “Heinz Mack Light Shade.”Mack is a co-founder of the work group ZERO. His 2015 exhibition shows the reliefs, which were central to his plastic-sculptural work, and will attract art lovers from around the world to come to Baden-Baden. He recently had a major exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York.

From now to October 11, 2015 the “Staatliche Kunsthalle” opens its doors to an exhibit called “Übermorgenkünstler” (day-after-tomorrow artists), inviting young art students and graduates of various state colleges to show their talents.

Next door to the Kunsthalle, the Museum LA8 is home to the exhibit “Music! The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in the 19th Century. The emergence of a world orchestra” that runs through August 30. It is a journey of discovery through the founding history of the orchestra.

As of September 19, 2015 – February 2016 the Museum LA8 will take you on a journey during the time of the Prussians in the form of a special exhibit, “The Prussians in the West. Culture, Technic and Politics in the 19th Century.”

The Fabergé Museum – the world’s first and only of its kind – is a private collection of more than 700 pieces of the broad spectrum of the work by Carl Farbergé, including – among others – two Imperial Easter Farbergé Eggs, the famous Rothschild Easter Egg, and items formerly owned by Jacqueline Kennedy.

Both hotels are located in the center of town and in walking distance to all major attractions.

For clients who have booked a Rhine River Cruise between Amsterdam and Basel Switzerland, one of the embarkation or dis-embarkation point, there is a direct Express Train service between Basel and Baden-Baden. The train runs approximately every 2 hours – the ride takes 1 ½ hours. From the Frankfurt Airport there is train service to Baden-Baden approximately every 2 hours – the ride takes 1 ½ – 2 hours.
