CELEBRATE HISPANIC HERITAGE THIS AUGUST AT FOUR SEASONS RESORT SCOTTSDALE AT TROON NORTH
Weekend of Hispanic-Inspired Food, Drink and Events Welcomes Guests to Sonoran Desert Resort

Scottsdale, AZ – June 20, 2016 – Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North celebrates this August with a weekend of culinary festivities and colorful revelry to honor the Southwest’s Hispanic heritage.

“We are fortunate to have so many incredible team members with a Hispanic background,” says Director of Food & Beverage Bryan Feigenbaum.  “For a special weekend in August, we are inviting locals and overnight guests to enjoy a series of demonstrations, culinary events and spa treatments to showcase their rich culture and heritage and how it influences the local scene and what we do here at the Resort.”

Aguas Frescas & Mezcal
The Hispanic Heritage Weekend will be held Friday, Aug. 12, to Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016.  Guests booking over the weekend will be greeted upon arrival with aguas frescas and seasonal chilled horchata drinks, and will be treated to a specialty welcome amenity including freshly made tortilla chips with Chef Mel’s private label salsa and hibiscus cooler.  An invitation to attend a complimentary mezcal tasting with beverage expert Nick Padua will kick off the weekend festivities in Onyx Bar & Lounge on Friday at 5 p.m. A specialty dinner will be featured that evening in Proof, an American Canteen, where their “Summertime Smokehouse” series will get a Hispanic makeover featuring house-smoked green-chile pork, mezcal cocktails and a local Spanish guitarist. The Proof smokehouse dinner special will be offered for $28.

Culinary Seminars & Mecinas Mashup
The following day, two seminars welcome overnight guests and local visitors.
·        1 – 2 p.m.: Talavera Restaurant Chef Samantha Sanz will host “Flavors of the Sonora” featuring her hometown favorites and the Sonora spirit, Bacanora.
·        2:30 – 3:30 p.m.: Resort Chef Emmanuel Calderon will host a cooking demonstration showcasing specialties and techniques from his home town of Valladolid, Yucatan, which also will feature Clase Azul tequilas.

Pricing for local and resort guests for the seminars is $45 for both seminars.

That evening, Executive Chef Mel Mecinas will be joined by his two chef brothers for a four-course Oaxacan-inspired dinner. With more than 75 years combined in the food and restaurant industry all over the United States and Mexico, it will be the first time that the three talented Mecinas brothers have all prepared one menu under one roof here in Scottsdale. The Talavera four-course dinner is available to all visitors for $85, with optional wine and spirit pairings for an additional $35.  Each culinary offering over the weekend can be booked individually by calling restaurant reservations at (480) 513-5085.

All weekend long, the Proof Breakfast Buffet will be Oaxacan-Inspired with items such as the popular huevos rancheros, chilaquiles and other Mexican specialties. Guests of the Resort and locals can head to Onyx Bar & Lounge on Friday or Saturday evening to enjoy items from the Mexican Global Mashup menu in addition to specialty mezcal cocktails. A mole spice rub and mezcal recipe booklet greets guests at turndown.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage in the Spa
The Spa also is featuring the Cocoa Mole Energizing Wrap throughout the weekend, an 80-minute body treatment offered at the special rate of $199.  The treatment uses stimulating cafe mocha sugar scrub followed by a rich cocoa mole mud for deep moisturizing.

Book a Weekend Getaway
Guests who mention Hispanic Heritage Weekend when booking over the weekend will be treated to a specialty room rate of $189 a night, based on a two-night stay and double occupancy, and includes welcome and turndown amenities and the Friday mezcal tasting. Guests must call the resort directly for the specialty rate.
