Riviera Nayarit, Mexico (February 17, 2016) – Expanding the commitment to showcasing Mexican art and fashion, the “Beyond All Inclusive, Beyond All Compare” Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit now offers Oaxacan wood sculptures by Hoja Verde and fine Mexican jewelry with precious and semiprecious stones by Lyne Jewels at its boutique. The new offerings come on the heels of a runway show and pop-up shop from renowned Mexican fashion designer Alejandro Carlín in addition to the first annual pop-up art gallery. Spotlighting contemporary Mexican artists, with works by Juan Barba and Martha Collignon, the exhibit featured art that is inspired by the rich culture and traditions of the Huichols (Native Mexicans) who practice the intricate beading and embroidery using motifs from nature.
Hoja Verde’s whimsical carvings (also known as alebrijes) depict animals painted with intense colors and intricate patterns. From Oaxaca, the Mexican artisans that prepare these high quality cultural artifacts carve and treat copal wood with gasoline before painting. It is a family activity, leaving the biggest and difficult pieces to the elders. In addition, jewelry made with Mexican silver from Lyne Jewels is available for purchase. Each piece is made of naturals precious and semiprecious stones which have been meticulously hand-selected. Each piece is unique and radiates quality in a natural and earthy style that shine through in each design.
