Tollwood Summerfestival 2015 (until July 19, 2015) German and international stars like Status Quo, Uriah Heep, or Jackson Browne will be performing at the Music Arena. For twenty-six days, a wide range of cultural events will be featured in the giant tent city under the headline “It’s all about attitude.” An entertaining piece called “Copacabana” will be given in the theater tent. Magdalenenfest (July 11 to 19, 2015) The Magdalenenfest is an insider’s tip among Munich folk festivals. The event takes place in the idyllic park Hirschgarten, directly adjacent to one of the city’s largest beer gardens. The small folk festival with a fair presents about 35 sideshows for entertainment and approximately 25 merchants offering a select range of goods from pots to wickerwork. Visitors can feast on roast sausages or skewer-grilled fish in the shady beer garden nearby and quench their thirst with cool beer or refreshing lemonade. Opera for everyone (July 18 and 31, 2015) Each year, hundreds of spectators soak up the special atmosphere of the open-air opera festival free of charge. The event takes place on the backdrop of the Marstallplatz and the National Theater. On July 18, the festival concert will feature a rendition of Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Nocturnal fun with bladers in Munich (Every Monday, weather permitting, until September 7, 2015. Starts: 8pm) Speeding through the city on inline skates is a fun and active way of experiencing Munich. In good weather, the AOK Blade Night attracts thousands of skaters, who race through the streets of the town center, which is then closed to traffic.
