GLORIA FERRER BEGINS VISITOR CENTER REMODEL

Project blends clean California mission style with inspiration from a contemporary Catalan spirit

Sonoma, CA (November 17, 2014) —After 28 years, Carneros’ original sparkling wine house and Sonoma’s tourist mecca is getting a makeover.  Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards, producer of California’s most awarded sparkling wines, will embark on a remodel of its tasting room and Vista Terrace on December 1st.  When the winery opened in Sonoma in 1986, it was designed to be a vibrant blend of the Ferrer family’s cherished Catalan culture and new California home. The renovation will enhance this style further while creating a more updated, luxurious space that will expand guest capacity, tasting options and further accentuate the glorious views of San Pablo Bay that attract hundreds of visitors daily.  Gloria Ferrer expects the project to be complete in six months.

“Our vineyards investments of the last three decades in Carneros are coming into their prime and it’s reflected in our beautiful wines,” said Vice President of Retail Operations Geraldine Flatt.  “Last year, the winery introduced a new wine label and an updated website to reflect our continued evolution, blending the history of our past with the promise of our future. Now we look to do the same with our beautiful guest facility.”

Improvements will include:

  • A new entrance that transitions guests into the focal point of the visitor center featuring new windows and modern wrought iron accents.
  • A larger Vista Terrace, almost double its current size, with a covered pergola featuring a shade canopy, lighting and heaters to allow for enjoyment of the expansive views of San Pablo Bay year round
  • Exclusive and private areas on the terrace for loyal Gloria Ferrer club members.
  • A 30 percent increase in square footage inside the Visitor Center, with additional windows to bring the impressive Carneros view and light into the updated indoor tasting area and more luxurious, comfortable and contemporary furniture, inviting guests to linger.
  • An exclusive and private room for special food and wine pairings and meetings.
  • Gorgeous new display areas to show off co-founder Gloria Ferrer’s famed glassware collection.

Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards will continue to welcome guests for tastings under their tented arbor located just outside the winery entrance daily from 10 AM until 5 PM.  Tours will not be available during the remodel.  Advanced reservations for parties of 8 or more are required and can be made by calling (707) 933-1917 or online at www.gloriaferrer.com
