Saarbrücken – A Gem in Western Germany

Saarbrücken, with its 1,000-year old history, is a city with a vibrant cultural scene, Baroque architecture and a French ambiance. Activities include a visit to the Völklingen Ironworks, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which shows the industrial past of the region, as well as the largest shopping mile in the region. During the holiday season, the St. Johanner Markt is truly the center of the city. The Christmas Market will take place in the historical square from November 24 – December 23.

Great cross-country skiing and biking is possible in the Thuringian Forest along the Central-German mountain ridges. Of course, these are just a selection from a wide variety of things to do!
