Ashford Castle has a long and rich heritage dating back to the 13th century. It was a Guinness family home from 1855 until 1939, when Ashford Castle became a leading hotel. In 1970, it was acquired and developed by the well-known Irish-American John A. Mulcahy, who also developed one of the world’s top Links Golf Courses in Waterville. Ashford Castle is now a world famous hotel and is a member of the exclusive Leading Hotels of the World. It attracts visitors from around the globe, and former visitors to Ashford include: King George V of Britain, President Ronald Reagan, Oscar Wilde, John Lennon, and more recently, Pierce Brosnan and Brad Pitt.
