Halifax, N.S. – The Taste of Nova Scotia Prestige Awards is a celebration of excellence to honour producers and restaurants that provide exceptional culinary products and experiences. Winners, from over 800 consumer nominations, were announced during the annual Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia’s (TIANS) Tourism Summit on November 27, 2012.
“This is our opportunity to recognize and thank the passionate, dedicated people – the farmers, the fishermen, the chefs – who create the artisanal products that make our province a true culinary tourism destination,” says Janice Ruddock, executive director of Taste of Nova Scotia.
Taste of Nova Scotia Prestige Awards for 2012 were presented in the following categories:
Innovative Product of the Year
Pear Eau De Vie, Ironworks Distillery, Lunenburg
Restaurant of the Year – Chef Inspired Fine Dining
Le Caveau, Grand Pré
Restaurant of the Year – Chef Inspired Casual Dining
Wild Caraway, Advocate Harbour
Restaurant of the Year – Essence of Nova Scotia
Trellis Café, Hubbards
Producer of the Year
Fox Hill Cheese House, Port Williams
Server of the Year
Andrea Davidson, Fleur de Sel, Lunenburg
Consumer Choice Product of the Year
Eel Lake Oysters, Ste. Anne du Ruisseau
Gary MacDonald Culinary Ambassador of the Year
Chef Craig Flinn, Chives Canadian Bistro
Nominations for the Taste of Nova Scotia Prestige Awards were received from Taste of Nova Scotia members and the public. The nominations were brought to a judges’ panel and then approved by the Taste of Nova Scotia Board of Directors.
