Napa Truffle Festival
January 18-21, 2013
.
Learn about the science and business of truffle cultivation!
Saturday, January 20 at the Napa Truffle Festival
.
Truffle orchards are highly profitable and are an excellent and viable way to diversify land usage. The demand for European black truffles, the most sought after truffles in the culinary world (aka “the diamond of the kitchen”), far exceeds supply. Current black truffle production is almost exclusively in Europe – predominately France, followed by Spain and Italy, with small amounts in Slovenia, Croatia and Australia. But now these truffles can be cultivated in select areas around the world – and Northern America, especially regions like Napa and Sonoma, offer particularly suitable climates/soil.
.
Get an in-depth overview of the science and business of cultivating European black truffles with American Truffle Company’s Managing Director Robert Chang and Chief Scientist Dr. Paul Thomas.
