The 2012 season closes next Sunday, November 4, and we hope you had a chance to enjoy some or all of the 11 shows on the 2012 Playbill. Behind the scenes, we have begun preparations in earnest for Member Presale for 2013 ticket sales, which runsNovember 9-25! Rauch Receives Fichandler Award |
Artistic Director Bill Rauch has been named the 2012 recipient of The Zelda Fichandler Awardrecognizing an outstanding director or choreographer who is transforming the regional arts landscape through imaginative, brave work in theatre. The $5,000 award, given by Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation, heralds both accomplishment to date and promise for the future, and commends deep commitment to a community.“As someone who has had a dynamic effect on the west coast region, both as an artistic director and a first class artist, this choice is entirely apt and completely fulfills the goals of this prestigious honor. Bill represents the very best of our union and our craft on so many different levels. Please Join Us for “We Are Here”

Please join us for the We Are Here Celebrationtaking place this Monday, October 29 in Carpenter Hall beginning at 6 pm. Jack Langford will be completing the final bronze casting of the We Are Herestatue on the patio behind Carpenter Hall. This event is FREE and open to the public.Ashland’s beloved “We Are Here” statue, created byRussell Beebe, is being recast in bronze by artist Jack Langford and will be moved to Southern Oregon University’s Hannon Library. Installed in 2006, the “We Are Here” sculpture features a likeness of Takelma American Indian elder Agnes Baker Pilgrim, along with carvings of wildlife. The bronze castings are being done in pieces throughout the community and the final bronze casting will be done at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in an evening celebration including dance, music, food, speakers and performers.We Are Here Celebration Participants: Grandmother Agnes Pilgrim, Russell Beebe, Dr. Mark Tveskov, Red Earth Descendants, Brent Florendo, Phoenix Sigalove and Whistling Elk Singers, and Southern Oregon University Native American Student Union. |
