Locavores who love their spirits find plenty to rave about in Washington’s far northwest corner. The region’s natural beauty and community-focused population has inspired a range of talented winemakers, brew masters and distilleries here.Here are just a few of our favorites:
Mount Baker Distillery

They specialize in making hand crafted spirits using updated versions of Grandpa Abe Smith’s traditional backwoods methods, recipes and equipment. They produce small batch spirits distilled with the finest ingredients, including organic Washington state grains.

Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen
A brewery and restaurant offering consistent, unique, quality driven craft beers and beverages with creative, locally influenced fresh American cuisine in Old Town, Bellingham.

Masquerade Wine Company
They make world-class, award-winning artisan wines from some of the finest vineyards in the Pacific Northwest. Their mission is to make wines that bring enjoyment and celebration to life. They are also featured on the Whatcom Wine Tours, the ultimate wine tour of Whatcom County.

Old Fairhaven Wines

They carry a wide selection of wine from all over the globe, including many from local Whatcom County wineries. So they are sure to have something to suit your tastes.

Fall Harvest Celebrations

An annual event for more than 22 years, Cloud Mountain Farm Center has more than 200 varieties of fruit and fruit products to taste and enjoy. Live music provides a background, and Julia’s pumpkin patch is open for u-pick or we-pick pumpkins and gourds.

The new market and gift shop includes fresh produce, apple cider, artisan cheeses, caramel, specialty honey and jams, fresh honey-roasted peanut butter, and gifts from the farm and for the season. Their bistro and bakery features light breakfast and lunch menus that include soups, salads, sandwiches, cheese plates, ciders on tap, pies, pastries, cookies, apple turnovers, cider doughnuts and more.
