Los Angeles, CA (April 1, 2015) – L’ Horizon Palm Springs, an independently owned luxury boutique hotel by Steve Hermann, is delighted to announce it will open its doors shortly in May 2015. The hotel boasts twenty-five private bungalows, many with private patios and outdoor showers that overlook the infinity pool and beautifully landscaped 3 acres. Upon completing a multimillion-dollar re-envisioning by celebrity designer Steve Hermann, the exclusive hotel will become Palm Springs’ only luxury boutique hotel. L’ Horizon offers guests a unique experience of rejuvenation, luxury and serenity with the beautiful desert landscape as a backdrop.
With iconic, mid-century modern architecture and a rich Hollywood history, L’Horizon offers a luxury boutique hotel experience just minutes from downtown Palm Springs. Designed in 1952 by renowned architect William F. Cody, L’Horizon was a favorite celebrity destination spot in the 50s and 60s, and attracted guests from Hollywood’s golden era including Marilyn Monroe and Betty Grable as well as several U.S. Presidents.
Also another first for Palm Springs, L’Horizon Resort and Spa has been accepted into the Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) collection and is the only property in the area with such distinction. As part of The Leading Hotels of the World group, L’ Horizon meets rigorous standards for even the most discerning guests, from service and cuisine to facilities and linens. The hotel’s private bungalows provide an exclusive and intimate feel to the property. Featuring Frette Linens, Le Labo toiletries, marble baths, and a mix of bespoke and high-end vintage furniture, L’ Horizon has set standards never seen in Palm Springs, and seldom seen worldwide. This once again is an iconic property in the making.
Breathing new life into the property, Hermann returns the hotel’s name to its original calling, L’ Horizon, and has rebuilt it with the signature modern details he has become well known for in Los Angeles. After designing homes for celebrities and titans such as Vera Wang, Christina Aguilera and Larry Ellison of Oracle, he has brought his modern residential sensibilities into the hotel industry. Mr. Hermann is not only the designer, but the owner as well, and considers L’Horizon to be the first hotel of his newly launched brand, Steve Hermann Hotels.
Hermann remarks, “I have been coming to the desert for over a decade, but there has never been anywhere truly wonderful and luxurious to stay. I had driven by this hotel for years thinking if I could own only one hotel, this would be the property I would want. The bones are amazing, and it’s iconic William Cody lines are perfect for what I wanted to create. We have designed the experience looking closely at every small detail from the design and décor, to the everyday nuances of the staff and service.” He continues, “L’Horizon is this perfect little jewel of low density bungalows spread out over several acres. It’s iconic and well preserved architecture along with its rich history make it completely unique. There is nothing else like it.”
The property is excited to become home to an innovative restaurant helmed by Michelin Stared Chef, Giacomo Pettinari, who honed his craft at the legendary El Bulli, and went on to helm Valentino in Los Angeles. The restaurant and bar offers an eclectic menu of progressive Southern European and California creations, as well as a predominantly West Coast wine list. Whenever possible, the team is committed to using organic, bio-dynamic and farmer’s produce while sourcing all within a 150 mile radius.
Guests may also indulge with a trip to our world-class spa with private outdoor showers, where they can choose from a menu of massages, facials and body treatments in a serene desert environment. The fresh juice bar offers a selection of fresh, organic juices all made-to-order. For the active and athletic, we offer 24-hour personal fitness trainers (upon appointment), expert yoga training, meditation, and guided walking and hiking trails.
