The tour is designed and led by Patsy Boughton, a professional garden designer expert, who has lived in France for the last twenty three years. Patsy created a famous English style Rose Garden – “Le Jardin des Rosiers,” in the Poitou-Charentes – which was open to the public for over twenty years, and has been widely recognized by the national and international gardening press.

Santa Rosa, California, April 28, 2015 – French Incoming, using inside knowledge of France, and working with its team of garden and culinary experts, has developed new and very different tours, based on the theme of gardens and culture. It goes without saying that any tour of France should feature food and wine – but these tours go one step further, discovering the local markets, recipes and specialties, brought to life by its very own chef.

The Provence tour, with its unmistakable landscape, lavender fields and olive trees, also has some beautiful gardens, from small private gems to impressive estates. You will discover the charms of the Luberon and its picture postcard villages, and savor the tastes and perfumes of this Paradisiac region.

This special boutique tour is designed for clients who appreciate a diverse range of cultural interests. It will appeal to the discerning traveler, who equally enjoys visiting a dream garden (be it historic or contemporary), an enchanting château, a beautiful ancient abbey, or a quaint medieval village. The tour is also designed to take in the breathtaking scenery of the most beautiful French regions of Provence.

A day which begins with a visit to an awe inspiring classic French château and its gardens, moves on to a World Heritage Site Romanesque Abbey, and ends with discovering a refreshingly natural, English style garden – provides the visual and atmospheric contrasts that awaken the senses, and maintain the interest throughout the day. However, although the days are packed with interest, customers appreciate having time to fully enjoy each site, and to soak up the atmosphere at their own pace. With this in mind, sometimes half a day is devoted to just one site, in order to have time to linger awhile, and not be hurried.

Centrally located, comfortable hotels are used so that during your spare time there is a wealth of interesting and pleasurable activities available on your doorstep. Cobbled Medieval Streets to wander, historic buildings to visit, shops and markets for your souvenir buying, a wide choice of restaurants to suite every palate, and café terraces from which to watch the world go by.

Le Jardin des Rosiers was also featured in the famous international guide ‘1001 Gardens You Must See Before You Die’, as are several of the gardens included in our tours. Patsy has designed gardens, both in the UK, and all over France from Paris to Provence. Patsy will share with you her passion for beautiful gardens, as well as her love of architecture, nature and history. She also has a wealth of amusing anecdotes about travel and life in France, gleaned from her twenty three years of experience living there. Warmth and good humor will be the keynotes of your time spent in her company.

The tour features “a gastronomy day,” led by chef Alan Perry. Alan heads up ‘Alan Perry Receptions’, working in both Paris and Burgundy. Originally from Wales, Alan has lived in France for the last forty years, and during this time he has highly successfully combined his two great passions – art and cookery. Alan is now recognized as a true culinary artist, and during our gastronomy day he will share with us his understanding of French cookery and his love of regional cuisine. The day will begin with a shopping expedition to a colorful food market, followed by a cookery demonstration and a delicious lunch – and will be completed by visits to producers of local food and wine.

The tour is limited to no more than 15 people. The aim is to offer tours that are as comfortable, relaxing and pleasurable as possible – with a personal touch that will not only provide customers with happy memories, but will make them want to travel with us again.
