Great writers start here! The International Food Wine and Travel Writers Association (IFWTWA) announces an innovative program for prospective food, wine and travel writers. The Emerging Writer Program assigns a veteran IFWTWA writer to each accepted applicant. The program takes place primarily online and admits students on an ongoing basis. For additional information and to apply to the program, applicants should go to www.IFWTWA.org. This is a unique opportunity for new travel, food or wine writers to learn from the best of the best.
To be considered for admission, all applicants need to meet the minimum requirements for admission established by the International Food Wine and Travel Writers Association and pay a fee of $150.00. For U.S. and international applicants, these include: Have fewer than 4 articles published on food, wine or travel topics in the last 12 months; if the writer has a published food, wine or travel blog, it should be less than 6 months old; and have a goal to join IFWTWA as a regular member in a year or less.
Program chair, Susan Montgomery explains the program this way: “There are many writers out there who are interested in writing about food, wine, and travel, but they just don’t know how to begin. This program will be aimed at those individuals who need mentoring as they launch their food, wine, and travel writing careers.”
