Sea Cloud Cruises introduces new programme 2014

Hamburg, 05 July 2013. Sea Cloud Cruises, the Hamburg based operator for small, exceptional cruises, introduces its new programme for 2014. In addition to the new sailing routes of the Sporades and northern Greece more short trips are envisaged on all three vessels, as well as a focus on themed voyages and an expanded repertoire of sailing trips for sailing enthusiasts.

The new sailing area of the Sporades with the islands Skiathos and Skopelos, where fine sandy beaches and whitewashed chapels radiate under a deep blue sky, illustrates a Greece that one only knows from picture books. From June30June, 2014 to July 8, 2014 for example, the windjammer legend Sea Cloud sets sail for Kusadasi (Izmir) to Istanbul (catalogue p. 135). An exclusive classical music concert for Sea Cloud guests set against the backdrop of the Celsus library in Ephesus on the first night of the voyage promises to be a special highlight of the itinerary. When booking this trip, up to and including November 30, 2013, the special early bird price per person in a double outside cabin is US$ 4,985. The rate will increase to US$ 5,535 thereafter.

On all three of the Sea Cloud Cruises ships, there will be many more shorter trips to choose from in the new season. Guests who have not yet been aboard any of our ships will have good opportunities to try out the different vessels in order to decide which ship they feel especially comfortable on and whether a longer cruise is suited to them. There are for example 6 different travel dates offering four nights on River Cloud II from Budapest to Vienna or from Vienna to Budapest. The early-bird booking price in a guaranteed double outside cabin starts at US$ 1,095 per person for the journey from October 31 to November 4, 2014 (catalogue page 63).

In addition, short breaks are available with Sea Cloud from / to Las Palmas (catalogue page 142) and Sea Cloud II from / to Hamburg (catalogue page 95). The early bird prices range from US$ 2,265 per person (Sea Cloud) or US$ 1,675 per person. (Sea Cloud II).

The programme for 2014 provides, as every year, travel with interesting topics: for example, for garden fans, during the voyage on Sea Cloud II from Dublin to Bilbao from August 20 to 30, 2014. Early booker prices are from US$ 4,985 per person. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Hartwig Schepker, director of the Botanical Gardens and Rhododendron Park in Bremen (Germany), travellers will experience six completely different types of garden from the Irish fuchsia gardens at Lisselan, in keeping with the Robinsonian theme of the 19th century, to the Trebah Gardens in Cornwall, one of the 80 most beautiful gardens in the world and the palace gardens of Château Lagrange in the wine region of Bordeaux (catalogue p. 97).

In addition, there are many other occasions where Sea Cloud Cruises have developed themed travel in the following season: For example, the 110th Birthday of Salvador Dalí on Sea Cloud II from Malaga to Barcelona (catalogue p. 88), orEuropean history with “Charlemagne” (catalogue p. 55) on River Cloud II line Basel-Amsterdam. On another river cruise to discover “cinemas along the Main and Rhine” between Nuremberg and Amsterdam (catalogue p. 52).

More sailing trips for sailing enthusiasts. The choices are either travelling with a fixed schedule or allowing the wind and weather determines the next port of call. If you like to sail during the day and wish to be in port from late afternoon until the next morning (fixed schedule), this can be achieved by booking the journey of Sea Cloud from Naples to Palma de Mallorca (catalogue page 139). The early bird price is up to and including November 30, 2013 and is US$ 4,585 per person for bookings in a guaranteed double cabin. For those of you who prefer to sail for seven days with no fixed destinations our Sea Cloud cruise from August 14 to 21, 2014 is perfect for you. Piraeus stands firm as the port of departure and Istanbul the arrival port, otherwise the wind determines the ports of call (catalogue p. 138). The early booking price up to and includingNovember 30, 2013 is US$ 3,995 per person in a guaranteed double cabin.

Each year, the sailing experience of a very special kind is the transatlantic crossing. In 2014 Sea Cloud II will follow the Columbus route from November 24 to December 9, 2014. Starting in Las Palmas, the windjammer lady will sail for 16 days to the Caribbean island of Antigua. Early bird from US$ 4,295 per person (catalogue p. 109). Her older sister Sea Cloud will sail fromLas Palmas toBarbados from November 29 to December 15, 2014 (Early Bird Travel Price person from US$ 4,285 per person (catalogue p.146).

For those who still see 2014 as a distant blur could take a look at the sailing schedules for the coming winter 2013/2014. There are for example Costa Rica and Panama with the first passenger exchange in Panama City, two departures with a focus on Cuba, and several departures to the island paradises of the Lesser Antilles and the Grenadines, far from the major cruise itineraries.

Since 1979, Sea Cloud Cruises has been a top name in the world of cruising. The 82-year-old four-masted Sea Cloud with its high standards of quality sets the precedent for the other ships belonging to the cruise line.
