Latitude 50 bucking occupancy predictions

A Cornish holiday lettings agency has reported record occupancy levels despite gloomy predictions for tourism in the South West.

Latitude 50, who manage high-end self-catering properties in Rock, Daymer Bay, Port Isaac and Polzeath, has posted impressive occupancy rates on a number of their cottages.

One property in their portfolio, “The Cottage”, based in Daymer Bay, sleeps eight and has an occupancy rate of 85% for 2013. With estuary views, “Mullets” in Rock sleeps nine and has posted similar figures with occupancy for 2013 at 80% for the year.*

Jill Landeryou of Latitude 50 said: “Our leading homes are all doing incredibly well. We’ve certainly made a huge investment in our high-ranking website but we have also worked hard to achieve fantastic customer satisfaction levels which mean our repeat visitors are as high as 80%.

“We visit all our properties weekly throughout the year regardless of whether there is a changeover so nothing is ever left to chance for our guests. This is totally different to many large conglomerates who often only visit a property annually at the start of the season. We also have a home office based right in the centre of Rock so there is always local support on hand whatever the hour.”

Due to a combination of factors, 2012 was considered a difficult year for British tourism and predictions from bodies such as Visit England have been mixed.

Visit England’s data analyst Sharon Orrell said: “Whilst the Olympic Games has helped our domestic image, there is some bad news to emerge from the number crunching exercise in that 19% of people questioned in England said that the bad weather of 2012 had put them off the idea of a holiday in England in 2013, with consumers expecting to take fewer holidays in England in 2013 than in 2012; 42% saying that they are generally spending less on holidays.”

Jill Landeryou continues: “We are always complimented on our offer of stunning, coastal properties; the look of our website; and our customer-centred approach. These are all things that are helping us achieve fantastic results for our homeowners. If you have a cherished coastal property that you’re considering offering as a holiday let, we’d be delighted to hear from you as demand for our properties regularly outstrips supply.”

Latitude 50 provide property management services and expert advice on letting properties. Their guests and home owners benefit from a range of concierge services as well as 24 hour emergency cover.

*All property occupancy figures are as of 20th March 2013 for the year ending 30th December 2013.
