Grape Stomps, Harvest Celebrations and
Double-decker fun at the Nova Scotia Fall Wine Festival
Halifax, N.S. – Hop on and hop off Wolfville’s double-decker Magic Winery Bus, stomp grapes at Sainte-Famille Wines, or enjoy a pig roast and wine at Avondale Sky during this year’s Nova Scotia Fall Wine Festival. From September 13 to October 14, 2012, the annual harvest celebration of local wine and food is an opportunity to sample the very best the province has to offer.
“The fall festival is an opportunity to celebrate our local harvest…a time when our wineries are at their busiest and their best,” says Janice Ruddock, managing director of the Winery Association of Nova Scotia (WANS). “When you visit the wineries in the fall, you see the grapes coming in from the vineyards and you see the start of the winemaking process firsthand. It’s a perfect time to meet our winemakers, sample our local wines, stroll through the vineyards and to take in the stunning scenery around our beautiful province.”
New additions to this year’s festival include the Magic Winery Bus in Wolfville, 15 unique day tours organized by Go North Tours and Grape Escapes, an opportunity to harvest grapes at Petite Rivière as well as a pig roast at Avondale Sky. Traditional events like Jost Vineyards’ annual Charity Grape Stomp and Sainte-Famille’s Harvest Wine Fest will also continue to take place.
“We are already in the feel-good business,” says Pete Luckett, owner of Luckett Vineyards. “It’s doubly exciting that the wineries are working together on the Magic Winery Bus. To ride on the upper deck in the countryside provides a completely different view and a different perspective. It’s pretty exciting and more fun than any roller coaster ride…it’s top notch to have people brought to the winery in style.”
Hosted by WANS, the seventh annual Fall Wine Festival includes 12 wineries and over 50 wine-inspired events. For more information, a calendar of events, or to sign up for the weekly newsletter, visit www.nsfallwinefestival.ca .
