Speakers and Agenda Announced for

Atlantic Canada Wine Symposium

Halifax, N.S. – The Atlantic Canada Wine Symposium (ACWS), taking place in Halifax from May 27 to 29, 2012, will feature keynote speaker Bill Redelmeier of Southbrook Vineyards. Redelmeier will be joined by a lineup of industry leaders offering innovative, environmentally-friendly and resourceful practises for grape growing and wine making as well as for delivering enhanced consumer experiences.
“The quality and caliber of speakers lined-up for this year’s symposium is outstanding,” says Hans Christian Jost, chairman of the Atlantic Canada Wine Symposium and owner of Jost Vineyards. “With our own passion and experience coupled with the talent and knowledge of our international speakers, this conference offers the opportunity to promote, grow and develop our Atlantic Canada wine industry even further.”

Speakers for the 2012 ACWS include:

Bill Redelmeier, Southbrook Vineyards  – Keynote Speaker
The keynote address will discuss the potential of the Canadian wine industry and how a rising tide lifts all ships. Redelmeier will also participate on a panel about organic and biodynamic wines.

 

Elizabeth Slater, founder, In Short Marketing
Recognized throughout North America as an authority on marketing wines, wineries and wine regions, Slater will share her experiences with regards to consumer relationships as well as sales and marketing techniques. She is based in California.

 

Dr. Andrew Landers, faculty, Cornell University
Dr. Landers studied and taught agricultural engineering in England before joining the faculty at Cornell University. He is a grape growing expert and will present an afternoon pesticide certification course for grape growers.

 

Sandra Oldfield, owner and winemaker, Tinhorn Creek Winery

Oldfield led Tinhorn Creek to become the first carbon neutral winery in Canada as well as the first winery in British Columbia to receive a certificate of recognition for its vigorous health and safety program.
