PRESS RELEASE

NORTHERN LIGHTS WAKE-UP-CALLS GET AN UPGRADE IN ICELAND

New Auto-Aurora Technology at Hotel Husafell Helps Travelers Avoid Northern Lights #FOMO
BORGARFJORDUR, ICELAND (September 26, 2017) – This winter 4-star Hotel Húsafell is pleased to be the first hotel in Iceland to offer Auto-Aurora, a new automated Northern Lights wake-up-call system. With the touch of a button, Auto-Aurora alerts hotel guests by phone if the Aurora Borealis appear during the night. In celebration Hotel Húsafell introduces a new Northern Lights package including the brand new Krauma Geothermal Nature Baths opening in October.

Nestled in Borgarfjordur Valley beneath Langjokull Glacier, Hotel Húsafell is considered the best spot in Iceland for watching the Northern Lights, with an average of three sightings per week in winter. The high snowy domes of the nearby glacier ensure cold, cloudless skies and crisp winds which are ideal conditions for the Aurora Borealis.

“We’re proud to be the first hotel in Iceland to offer this upgraded service to Northern Lights travelers,” says Hotel Húsafell Manager Unnar Bergþórsson. “By saving time and removing the element of human error, guests have a better chance of seeing the Auroras. Northern Lights #FOMO is becoming a thing of the past at Hotel Húsafell.”

In addition to Auto-Aurora, Hotel Húsafell caters to Northern Lights travelers by training staff to provide app suggestions and helpful tips for photographing the elusive Auroras. The hotel’s in-house restaurant is designed for optimal Aurora Borealis viewing with floor-to-ceiling windows so guests can gaze upon the lights while dining. The hotel’s surrounding marked hiking trails make the perfect hunting ground for Northern Lights chasers.
