Nanuku Auberge Resort Fiji

NANUKU AUBERGE RESORT FIJI TAKES GUESTS ON A CULINARY SOJOURN WITH

NEW “KANAVATA FOOD OF PLACE” EXPERIENCE

PACIFIC HARBOR, Fiji Islands — An epicurean sojourn is in store exclusively for guests staying at the award-winning Nanuku Auberge Resort Fiji from March 23-26, 2017 when Executive Chef Pranil Prasad and his culinary team presents a gastronomic experience designed to showcase ancient and contemporary cooking as part of the luxury Resort’ “Kanavata Inaugural Food of Place Event.”

The event includes all meals, ground and boat transfers for activities, and amenities and is subject to availability.  The cost per person for the three-day Kanavata event is FJD$625.00 – approximately $304.16 USD.

The event is exclusive of accommodations and a three-night minimum stay is required.

With an emphasis on fresh locally caught/sourced fish from the sea and produce from the resort’s extensive gardens, the three-day culinary sojourn is designed to allow guests to experience some of the exotic tastes of the South Seas while at the same time offering an opportunity to immerse themselves in Pacific Harbour’s rich living culture.

The event kicks off on March 23 with a ‘Nanuku Cultural Experience’ which focuses on Fiji’s history and the connection between the land and its people. Activities will include a Kava ceremony, a ‘Meke’ combining dance and song followed by a traditional Fijian ‘Lovo’ feast of meats, seafood and local root crops and vegetables

cooked on hot stones buried in the ground for several hours – a tradition as old as the islands.

On day two, Chef Pranil leads foodies on an off-site senses-laden road trip to experience the colour, sights and sounds of Suva’s vibrant vegetable and seafood Markets. The tour will include a stop at Fiji’s famous ‘Spice of Fiji’ farm where participants will have a first-hand opportunity to sample some of the freshest and more unique of the spices Fiji has to offer.

The tour will culminate with chef Pranil and his team transforming the resort’s sunset deck and beach area into a colourful luncheon venue where guests will be able to learn the ancient art of traditional Prawn cooking using bamboo tubes followed by a seafood bake to be enjoyed communally.

Dinner that evening will be based on a ‘Land to Sea’ themed dinner event where guests can meet ‘the mud crab of their dreams’ and try their skills at live chef stations under the watchful eye of chef Pranil.

A ‘Luxury Survivor’ event on the resort’s own private island forms the basis for the third day of the Kanavata event where guests will be truly immersed in the ancient culture of Fiji with storytelling, fire making and learning how important the ‘Tree of life’, the coconut palm, remains to the Fijian people as a source of food, shelter and even clothing.

The three-day event culminates with a ‘Fijian Gala Event’ –  a degustation style dinner – with each course paired with wines and a story or two.
