Returns with Rare Whiskeys and Specialty Beers, January 23
BAY SHORE, NY. January 5, 2016 – More than thirty whiskies and thirty specialty craft beers will be offered at T.J. Finley’s 2016 Winter Bourbon Festival. The event will take place on Saturday, January 23, 2016 with a VIP session starting at 3:00pm and General Admission session starting at 4:00pm. The 3rd annual Winter Bourbon Fest will be held at T.J. Finley’s located at 42 E. Main Street, Bay Shore, NY 11706. Tickets are on sale now. This is a 21+ event. A limited number of tickets are available. According to the Beverage Information & Insights Group’s 2015 Liquor Handbook, “consumers’ interest in brown spirits, especially straights and bourbons, has been increasing while the vodka and rum categories struggle to achieve gains.” One possible reason for this shift according to the report, “domestic whiskeys are seen as heritage-filled and authentic – both traits that play directly into the purchasing prerequisites of today’s consumers – they are not only expanding their core consumer base, but the gentler-flavored offerings are also bringing new consumers into the category.”
“The term ‘American Whiskey’ covers such an expansive range of styles and flavors,” said Sean Brown, District Manager for Southern Wine & Spirits of NY. From Maker’s 46, a sweet and oaky bourbon, to the spiciness of Rittenhouse Rye “this event will give the whiskey lover a large range of styles from which to choose. With the return of the Winter Bourbon Festival, attendees will be able to try some of the best-selling and most desirable whiskeys all under one roof,” added Brown.
As a special treat festival goers will also be able to try some locally brewed bourbon barrel aged craft beers from their favorite Long Island breweries in addition to great brews from regional award-winning breweries.
“Craft beer drinkers and whiskey drinkers share a passion for flavor, variety, tradition, and an artisan spirit,” said Drew Dvorkin, owner of event host, T.J. Finley’s. “The Winter Bourbon Festival is one of our favorite events of the year. Enthusiasts from all over Long Island, Queens, and New York City gather to enjoy an eclectic variety of whiskey and barrel aged beer. It’s great to spend a winter afternoon surrounded by like-minded people, sipping amazing whiskey, and supporting a worthwhile cause,” added Dvorkin.
The event will help raise funds for Gavin’s Got Heart, a local 501c3 charity with a mission to educate people about congenital heart defect (CHD) while offering support to families with children affected by CHD. www.gavinsgotheart.org.
Tickets for the Winter Bourbon Festival are $75 for VIP and $50 for General Admission. VIP tickets include a bonus hour where specialty bourbons and beers will be offered plus a bag of swag. All ticket holders get a commemorative tasting glass, sponsored by Jim Beam, and a BBQ sandwich of their choice. This is a 21+ event. All attendees must show valid photo ID for admission.
