|AAHOA Property Hosts Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson for Hotel Tour|
|WASHINGTON – Aug. 5, 2015 – Former chairman of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA), Mehul “Mike” Patel, hosted Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (TX-30) and her staff today for a back-of-the-house tour.Congresswoman Johnson toured the Courtyard & TownePlace Suites DFW, which has over 90 employees, 301 rooms, and more than 17,000 square feet of meeting space. The property tour focused on AAHOA’s impact on the lodging industry in Texas and the thousands of jobs AAHOA members create. The group also discussed AAHOA’s legislative priorities including access to financing, the preservation of Section 1031 Like-Kind Exchanges, and the expanded definition of ‘joint employer’.
“Hotel owner Mike Patel is a great example of how AAHOA members impact their communities, and we were honored to host Congresswoman Johnson at his property,” said AAHOA President and CEO Chip Rogers. “Hoteliers must share their stories with members of Congress like Representative Johnson, and this back-of-the-house tour was a great opportunity to do just that.”
As small business owners, AAHOA members are committed to job creation in Texas and across the country. As Congress continues to create and pass small business-related legislation, having advocates in Washington, DC remains critical to protecting small-business entrepreneurship and employees.
|Founded in 1989, AAHOA is the largest hotel owners association in the world, with more than 13,500 small business owner-members. AAHOA members own more than 20,000 properties, amounting to more than 40 percent of all hotels in the United States, and employ nearly 600,000 workers, accounting for over $9.4 billion in payroll annually.
