Gettysburg Brew Fest welcomes 35 craft brewers

Inaugural event to be held Aug. 23 at Lutheran Theological Seminary

Gettysburg, Pennsylvania – July 16, 2014

The Gettysburg Brew Fest is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 23, on the historic grounds of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, and will highlight an impressive array of local and national craft brewers. The Gettysburg Brew Fest is a fundraiser for the non-profit Gettysburg Festival Inc.

“The new Gettysburg Brew Fest is already proving to be one of the most highly anticipated events in the Gettysburg area for 2014”, said Gettysburg Festival Inc. Executive Director, Randy Prasse. “Our 35 breweries have committed to participating, offering over 60 brews to patrons. More are expected to join before the event date.”

With major regional beer distributors including Ace Distributing and Brewery Products, as well as a number of smaller self-distributed craft brewers as partners, brew fest attendees will be able to enjoy craft brews, ciders and other libations. Local breweries that will be sampling include Appalachian Brewing Company, Battlefield Brew Works, Roy Pitz Brewing and Troegs Brewing— in addition to popular national brewers, including Goose Island, Deschutes Brewing and Yard’s Brewing. A full listing is available on the Gettysburg Brew Fest website atwww.gettysburgbrewfest.com.

General admission tickets are $40 and will include a collectable sampling glass and a 3.5-hour sampling session, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. To date, over 600 of the available 1,200 tickets have been sold. A designated-driver ticket is also available.

“As visitors continue to look at a variety of experiences in Adams County – especially the growing culinary scene – events such as the Gettysburg Brew Fest are a perfect match for travelers,” said Norris Flowers, President of Destination Gettysburg.

Flowers continues, “The addition of new events like this are proof that Gettysburg offers a broad spectrum of experiences for visitors and locals alike.”

In addition to the event tickets, two local attractions have partnered with the event to offer special tours to attendees. Gettysburg Battlefield Tours will be give attendees a glimpse into the past through its “Historic Taverns of Adams County and Gettysburg” led by Licensed Battlefield Guide John Winkelman; and the Seminary Ridge Museum will offer discounted tours that include visiting the famed cupola – offering amazing 360-degree views of the battlefield and Gettysburg.

A 501(c)(3) non-profit, Gettysburg Festival Inc. is the parent organization of the annual Gettysburg Fest held every June. With a primary goal to provide accessibility of the arts – music, visual arts and culinary arts – to all, Gettysburg Festival, Inc. strives to present family appropriate and affordable entertainment and activities for every taste and budget.
