After a morning golfing, surfing or being out enjoying any of its natural wonders, Martinhal presents you, and your family, with some of the most delicious and fresh food.

As Sagres is located on the Atlantic,  near the Southwestern most point of Continental Europe, the variety of fish and seafood is much richer than in other European waters. At Martinhal’s restaurant “As Dunas”, the fresh catch of the day includes species like bream, bass, John Dory, snapper, red mullet, scorpion fish – the list goes on. The area is also famous for oysters, mussels, clams, limpets and the curious barnacles or “perceves” as the locals call them – these have to be caught off the dangerous rocks at the bottom of the West Coast cliffs making them a highly appreciated cuisine delicacy.

The local restaurants will equally serve you a selection of fresh fish prepared in the simplest style – simply grilled with salt and olive oil, while seafood is cooked with seawater, coriander, garlic and white wine. Prawns are tossed in olive oil and local “piri piri” (chili) oil with garlic. You can also add to your fish a delicious side sauce made with olive oil, roasted garlic and coriander.

Martinhal’s food philosophy includes also vegetarian and meat dishes and it is built upon sourcing ingredients as local as possible. Even the ice-cream served in the restaurants is locally made. The kid’s menu is widely acclaimed as an outstanding commitment to serve children the freshest food.

Martinhal Beach Resort & Hotel is located close to the historic town of Sagres on the unspoiled Western Algarve. The 42-hectare beachfront Resort is the epitome of barefoot luxury for couples and families – with an elegant spa, extensive range of childcare and leisure facilities, sports clubs, several restaurants and bars to choose from. Located in the middle of the Costa Vicentina Natural Park, there is a wide range of outdoor activities to choose from surf, biking, walking, windsurf or kayaking. With one of the most temperate climates all-year round, it is an ideal vacation destination summer or winter.

In addition to the 38 spacious luxury beach front hotel rooms there are 150 excellent spacious designer villas to accommodate a larger family – with large kitchens, dining rooms and living rooms fully furnished and equipped with exclusive brands. Flights are available from Lisbon, Faro and Seville. Car hire can be arranged from Lisbon (2.5 hours) or Faro (80 minutes) airports.
