Michelle M. Winner
Michelle was born in the Hawaiian islands where the world eventually came to her. But as any island people know the pull to see beyond the horizon is a strong one. She delights in travelling the world telling the story of people she meets and their unique culture. As an award-winning culinary travel writer and confirmed food-ophile she delights in the discovery of a cuisine, wines, flavors, spice, salts, herbs and how those relate to the food history of a place.
Her photography has appeared in Saveur Magazine. She was a contributing editor for Condé Nast Digital Media (hotels) and a special project editor for the New York Times food archives online. Her work has appeared in Forbes online, WSJ online, Business Insider and Epoch Times. Her print work has appeared in Western Art and Architecture, Northwest Travel Magazine, Cowgirl, Arizona Bride and Lavish. She does ghost writing for a Hawaii realtor and populates websites with content on Hawaii. She has served nearly ten years on the board of directors of The International Food Wine & Travel Writers Assoc. and is the current president. She is an international food judge, speaks at writers’ conferences, critiques cookbooks and has authored several chapters in an IFWTWA book coming out in late 2014.
Michelle is a former Rotary member, from a Rotary family: her father served district 500 now 5000 as Hawaii President for two terms and was twice a Paul Harris Fellow. Michelle is also a Paul Harris Fellow and truly understands “Service Above Self”. Her former careers include commercial interior design specializing in hospitality and way back when as a flight attendant. She is a confirmed globetrotter who keeps her bags packed and passport in hand ready for the next discovery that drives her.
Maralyn Dennis Hill
Maralyn, executive editor of Luxe Beat Magazine, was born to travel and tell the tale. From local cuisine to Michelin Star, simple to gourmet, Maralyn enjoys it all. Discovering flavors, spices, and trends worldwide, from Bocuse d’Or to being a judge at the Turks & Caicos Conch Festival, Oregon Chocolate Festival and others, or interviewing chefs, she is intrigued by all aspects of spa and culinary tourism.
As a professional food, wine and travel writer with guest spots on monthly radio shows, being editor and contributor to numerous publications, print and online, she reaches several million on a continual basis, domestically and internationally.
Maralyn’s years of writing incentive programs and meeting planning expanded her talent for digging below the surface. She thrives on discovering different cultures and customs and feels it’s the best geography lesson. Maralyn is always ready to explore different flavors of various cultures. People she meets are the best part.
She has co-authored three books and hosted a television show for Time Warner Cable from 2002 to 2006. Past president of the International Food Wine & Travel Writers Association (12-2008 to 12-2012), she continues as a board member and co-chair of the Conference and Media Trip Committee.
