Cornish Cycle Tours expand to Isles of Scilly

A Cornish cycling holiday operator has become the first to offer tours around both Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Cornish Cycle Tours has created two new tours, incorporating the Isles of Scilly, to its portfolio of self-guided holidays which vary in distance, length and difficulty.

Famous for its scenery and sub-tropical gardens, the Isles of Scilly is an archipelago with five inhabited islands lying 30 miles off the tip of the Cornish coast.

Cornishman Lanyon Rowe, who set up Cornish Cycle Tours in 2007, said: “Cyclists stay on the biggest island, St Mary’s, and the others are easily accessible by boat. Abbey Garden on Tresco is a must-visit with thousands of exotic plants. St Agnes has quaint cottages, flower fields and Britain’s most southwesterly pub, The Turk’s Head.

“Lots of our customers said how much they would like to visit the islands so we’re pleased to add them to our tours. Each island has white sandy beaches and breathtaking scenery and with no set itinerary, visitors can explore them at their leisure.”

Cornish Cycle Tours offer fully supported and carefully planned tours which include accommodation, luggage transfers, detailed route maps with step-by-step directions and 24 hour assistance. Cyclists only need to think of the day ahead of them whilst Cornish Cycle Tours takes care of the rest.

The Cornwall and Scilly tours include a 14 day option, covering 177 miles, or an 11 day version which covers 104 miles.

Both tours begin in the north Cornish town of Wadebridge and head towards the south coast. The route takes in coastal towns Mevagissey, Falmouth and Penzance, where guests stay before boarding the Scillionian ferry to the Isles of Scilly.

After three days on the islands, the 14 day tour follows the north Cornish coast back to Wadebridge, including St Ives and Perranporth. The 11 day tour ends in the historical mining town of St Just.

With 16 different tours on offer, Cornish Cycle Tours provides holidays for both novice cyclists and those who are more experienced. Routes range from relaxing three day leisure tours to challenging eight day sports tours.

The 11 day Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Tour costs £1,100 per person plus £120 for cycle hire. The 14 day tour costs £1,475 per person plus £195 for cycle hire. Electric cycle hire is available on mainland Cornwall for an additional cost.

Tours can be booked online at www.cornishcycletours.co.uk or by phoning 01637 880710.
