RENWOOD WINERY WELCOMES JOE SHEBL AS WINEMAKER

Amador County, CA, – Renwood Winery is proud to announce the appointment of Joe Shebl as Director of Winemaking and General Manager. Joe will oversee all aspects of winemaking and production, as well as, the day-to-day management of the winery and tasting room.

Joe Shebl thought he was on the path to becoming a doctor. However, after an outing to wine country, he became interested in the science of making wine and (soon afterward) attained a harvest position at Renwood Winery. It is there that he fell in love with wine and made the decision to pursue a career in winemaking. After a few years, he left Renwood and moved to Sonoma County where he garnered valuable experience working his way up through the ranks at Murphy Goode and Vinovation. Then in 2002, he returned to Renwood in the capacity of Winemaker where he was part of the team until 2009. Since that time he has worked for a number of renowned Amador County wineries where he honed his skills and cultivated a reputation as an innovative winemaker whose passion and enthusiasm is contagious.

“I am inspired and excited by this new opportunity. Creatively, I can’t wait to contribute to the future of this respected winery,” Joe said. “I am thrilled to be back and working with the team at Renwood. It feels like coming home.”

“We are very excited to have Joe back at Renwood,” says Brent Cohen, president of Renwood Winery. “It is certainly a plus that he is familiar with the winery, but it is his passion and proven hand with the fruit of Amador County that really drew us to choose him for this position.”

Joe will work closely with Renwood’s celebrity winemaking consultantsKent Rosenblum and Jeff Cohn who were brought on in 2011 to help invigorate the Renwood wine program. Joe will be responsible for blending many of the 2011 and all of the 2012 Renwood wines prior to bringing in the 2013 vintage.

Situated in the picturesque Amador County of northern California, Renwood Winery is surrounded by the rolling hills and rushing streams of California’s gold country. Renwood was established in 1993 and is one of the most respected wine producers in the Sierra Foothills, specializing in Zinfandel. For information visit www.renwood.com.
