The destination also received third place as “Best College Town” 



CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (July 1, 2013) – The 325,000 readers of Blue Ridge Country Magazine chose

Charlottesville as a multiple award winner.  Our destination received the top honor of the Platinum Award

in the “Best Medium Town” category.  Charlottesville also came in third place, with a Silver Award in the

“Best College Town” category. 


This year, the Best of the Mountains poll featured a variety of reader selections, ranging from best

waterfall to best southern cooking.  Other Charlottesville and Albemarle County organizations were

named favorites by the readers:  Monticello received the gold award for “Best Historic Attraction”, and the

Crozet Arts & Crafts Festival was runner-up in the “Best Arts/Crafts Show” category.


The 2013 Best of the Mountains award winners can be found in the July/August 25th edition of Blue Ridge

Country Magazine, an award-winning bi-monthly regional magazine that covers the mountain regions of

nine southern states.

Albemarle County, Virginia, through, the CVB assists tour operators, meeting

planners, reunions and other groups in planning visits to the destination.  CACVB’s mission is “to

enhance the economic prosperity of City and County by promoting, selling and marketing the City of

Charlottesville and County of Albemarle, as a destination, in pursuit of the meetings and tourism

markets.”  CACVB operates the Downtown Visitor Center (610 E Main St) which is open daily from 9 a.m.

to 5 p.m., and a satellite Visitor Center in the Albemarle County Office Building (401 McIntire Rd) which is

open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., as well as a touch-screen kiosk at Monticello’s

Thomas Jefferson Visitor Center.
