The Annual Crazy Horse
Volksmarch
, a 10K or 6.2
mile hike up Crazy Horse
Memorial takes place June
1-2, 2013. Crazy Horse
Memorial, located in the
southern Black Hills of South
Dakota, just 37 miles
southwest of Rapid City, is
the world’s only mountain
carving in progress.

This Volksmarch is recorded as the most popular organized hike in the United States with approximately 15,000 walkers. This is the only time each year the public may hike to the top of the mountain carving, passing through rugged terrain and reaching roughly 6,500 feet in elevation. The Crazy Horse Volksmarch will be modified as construction on the mountain progresses and the sculpture develops into its 3-D form.
