Presidential Descendants to Share Memories and Insights Feb. 16
KEY WEST, Florida Keys Descendants of five former United States presidents are to share insights into life after the presidential fishbowl during a presentation at Key Wests Harry S. Truman Little White House, Floridas only presidential museum.
The Presidents Day Weekend event is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, on the grounds of the 111 Front St. residence where former President Truman spent 11 working vacations during his 1945-1953 administration.
The presentation is to feature Trumans grandson Clifton Truman Daniel; Lynda Johnson Robb, daughter of Lyndon Johnson; Susan Ford Bales, daughter of Gerald Ford; Margaret Hoover, great-granddaughter of Herbert Hoover, and Donald A. Nixon, nephew of Richard Nixon.
In a panel discussion titled Out of the Fishbowl, Back to the Pond, the quintet will explore the challenges brought about when a former president and first family return to civilian life. Guided by moderator John Avlon, a CNN commentator, they also are to present personal glimpses into the lives of their presidential relatives.
Tickets for the unique event, priced at $100 per person, are available at www.keystix.com or at the Little White House.
Proceeds benefit the restoration fund of the not-for-profit Key West Harry S. Truman Foundation, whose mission is to preserve and protect the Little White House State Heritage Landmark. As well as being Trumans working presidential headquarters, the house also has hosted former presidents Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.
