The Treasures of France
On this 9-day comfortably-paced trip, guests travel across the north of France to some of the country’s most beautiful chateaux, like the architectural wonder Chenonceau, and Chambourd, known for its strong Italian influence. Starting and ending in Paris, travelers also rest their heads in picturesque towns like Amboise, Mont St. Michel and Bayeaux. Stopping in the town of Azay-le-Rideau in the Loire Valley, travelers will be treated to one of Trafalgar’s unique Be My Guest dining experiences at a stunning wine chateau. They’ll not only enjoy regional wine and local food, but will also meet the family that has inhabited the chateau for generations – a true insider experience. History buffs will get their fill as they visit the D-Day landing beaches and the Omaha military cemetery before heading to the Tapestry Museum to see the Bayeux Tapestry depicting events from the Battle of Hastings. The trip wraps up with a free day to explore Paris before joining fellow travelers at a Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant.
Paris & Provence
Travelers can take it easy on the 12-day Paris & Provence trip, which is part of Trafalgar’s relaxed-paced At Leisure collection. With three nights spent in Paris and Nice, guests will also spend two nights each in Aix-en-Provence and Nimes. After a day of sightseeing in Paris with a Local Guide that includes Notre Dame and the Arc de Triomphe, guests will have a day at leisure to explore the city on their own before hopping aboard a relaxing high-speed TGV train headed to Avignon. In Aix-en-Provence, travelers enjoy a lovely Be My Guest lunch of local dishes in an 18th century stone country house at a family-run winery. In Nimes, guests take a day trip to the St. Remy Provence Market, where they will interact with the locals andpurchase produce to take to a nearby restaurant for a cooking class to prepare their own delicious lunch!
Best of France
The perfect two-week getaway, Trafalgar’s Best of France itinerary shows travelers just that – the most incredible sights and experiences spanning the country’s most vibrant cities and towns. Starting and ending in Paris, the trip also makes overnight stops in Lyon, Nice, Carcassonne, Biarritz, Bordeaux, Tours and Omaha Beach. Traveling through wine country, guests will stop off in Beaune to sample some delicious regional wines at a local cellar before heading to Lyon. The Be My Guest experience on this trip features a special dinner at a charming 17th century traditional farmhouse in Tours. Other highlights of the trip include anexcursion to Monaco to mingle with the rich and famous, a trip to the second level of the Eiffel Tower, a Farewell Dinner with wine in Paris, and a trip to Lourdes to see St. Bernadette’s grotto.
“While Paris is always a main attraction on our trips heading to France, we like to surprise our guests with the hidden gems outside of the urban centre, like the UNESCO World Heritage walled city of Carcassonne and the breathtaking rocky island of Mont St. Michel,” says Paul Wiseman, President of Trafalgar USA. “We introduce our travelers to a France that they may not get to see if they had visited on their own — our included Insider experiences, like Be My Guest dining with local families and cooking classes with fresh market produce, allow them to go deep into the heart of France in the most authentic way possible.”
