THE WESTIN PHOENIX DOWNTOWN LAUNCHES A SHOP WITH THE CHEF PACKAGE Shop the local open-air market, learn about fresh foods, and enjoy a lunch served to your liking

PHOENIX – (July 26, 2012) The Westin Phoenix Downtown is launching an interactive culinary package that allows guests the opportunity to meet the chef, seek expert nutritional advice, shop a local open-air market for fresh ingredients, and then enjoy a customized three-course lunch. This new package is perfect for guests traveling from afar seeking local offerings or for neighbors looking for an up-close and personal food-focused experience.

This fall when the gardens are plentiful, The Westin Phoenix Downtown’s Shop with the Chef package will flourish. The experience commences with a chef meet and greet at the hotel’s restaurant, Province, on a Saturday morning. From there, the foodie excursion continues with a short stroll to the Phoenix Open-Air Market, located two blocks north of the hotel, where grocery shopping for the day’s lunch begins. At the Phoenix Open-Air Market, guests are able to connect with the chef and learn informative nutritional information about the assorted selections of fresh produce, herbs and spices.

The Phoenix Open-Air Market, open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon, is a local gathering place that offers an eclectic mix of: fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, produce, flowers, jams, baked goods, dried beans, free-range eggs and honey; live plants and unique local arts and crafts; music and more. Everything featured at the Phoenix Open-Air Market is grown or made by the person selling it.

Guests shopping with the chef will enjoy engaging conversations, discover health benefits of fresh market produce and learn how to select the best seasonal items. After a morning of culinary talk and selecting ingredients for lunch, guests will surely have an appetite for a mouthwatering meal!

After an interactive and educational local shopping excursion, the experience continues back at The Westin Phoenix Downtown where guests are greeted upon return with a beverage of choice. Now it’s time to sit back, relax and enjoy a refreshing chiller while the chef cleans, prepares and cooks a delicious three-course luncheon with the fresh ingredients just purchased at the Phoenix Open-Air Market.

Tailored to the guest’s liking, the three-course luncheon is served in Province’s modern, sophisticated and sleek dining room where the space is comfortable and understated. Sustainable cork tabletops, vibrant pink accents, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, and a living moss wall, enhance the restaurant’s organic yet hip atmosphere as guests enjoy their luncheon experience.
