“Megan’s skill set, creative spirit and multi-national experience will be a tremendous asset to the Glenwood Hot Springs management team and the Spa of the Rockies,” said General Manager and Chief Operating Officer Kjell Mitchell.

“I’ve worked at and visited high-end spas around the world, and I can tell you the Spa of the Rockies is a top spa on an international scale. I am so thrilled to be here and to help promote this wonderful place with so much healing history,” said Swanton. As the spa director, Swanton will be responsible for providing leadership, support and direction to the spa staff, as well as managing day-to-day operations including retail, guest services, spa services and wellness programming.

Swanton has always been involved in keeping herself and others healthy. As a young girl in Aspen, she was a competitive gymnast. In high school, she taught dance aerobics and yoga at health clubs near her home, and after graduation she pursued her professional career, earning a Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.

For seven years, Swanton owned and operated her own successful healing arts business in Sydney, Australia, where she specialized in chiropractic care and partnered with other specialists to offer a variety of therapeutic wellness services. As the regional spa director for Mandara Spa in French Polynesia, Swanton provided leadership and led operations with full responsibility for bottom line factors including purchasing, staffing and retailing. Back in the United States, Swanton most recently worked for Steiner Leisure at the Elemis Spa at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel, where she was the spa director. Her leadership style and dynamic personality helped to strengthen the relationship with an outside spa management company and increase guest satisfaction as well as company revenue.

“My work has taken me all over the world and has given me a deep appreciation for people from all walks of life. I’ve learned no matter where they are from, people respond positively to the energy exchange that comes from human touch, whether it’s from reflexology, massage or a facial. It’s life-affirming and an essential component of wellbeing,” said Swanton.

The Spa of the Rockies encourages natural health and wellness through the use of touch therapies and uses only top quality organic products from around the world.
